PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION UNDER THE "PROGRAMS" AND "POLICIES" TABS.

If your organization holds a current 501(c)3 standing with the IRS, and you have determined that your project or program fits into one or more of our categories of interest, and you are located in a BNSF service area, you may proceed to the online application.

What is your deadline for applying?

BNSF employs an open application system. You may apply at any time.

How long will it be before I know the status of my application?

Our process can take anywhere from 3 months to one year, depending upon whether we need more information, and the ongoing daily work of the railroad. We ask that you refrain from contacting the Foundation during the processing period unless you have additional information you feel is pertinent such as updated financials or budgets.

How often may I apply?

You may apply once per calendar year, whether you have received a grant or been declined. The only exception to this is if you have been invited by the Foundation to reapply.

How much should I apply for? Is there a maximum amount that BNSF will award?

BNSF has no limit on the amount for which you may apply. However, generally, our grants fall within the $1,000.00 to $10,000.00 range. If you would like the Foundation to consider making a major gift, please contact us at the address provided under the Contact Us.

How do I contact the Foundation?

How may I learn the status of my application?

You will be notified as to the outcome of your application as soon as a decision is made. We ask that you refrain from contacting the Foundation during the processing period unless you have additional information you feel is pertinent such as updated financials or budgets.
